On November 28th Golden Garden Boutique Hotel opened its doors to guests and participants of the traditional event of the sphere of tourism industry - "Journey to the New Petersburg in 2013". This significant event in this year has attained an even larger scale, received support from the Administration of St. Petersburg and the Russian Union of Tourist Industry and presented a completely new program for tour participants, developed jointly with Aldemar Hotels & Spa, and the Solvex company.
At the opening ceremony the singer Oleg Kvasha was a guest of honor with the hymn of St. Petersburg, as well as the winner of numerous World and Russian music competitions, Timothy Kirsanov. This young talent is not even 10, and he's already won the hearts of hundreds with his soulful playing the balalaika.
Also present at the opening was Alexander Shapkin - Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Tourism Development in St. Petersburg, who spoke about the new state system "Tourist registry of St. Petersburg", and expressed his wish to maximize the development of the project "The journey to the new Petersburg". Kind words and the wonderful music program have provided a great tempo and mood for the event.
The work-shop was attended by over 30 organizations of St. Petersburg's culture and entertainment industry: Russian Museum, Erarta museum, Municipal Tourist Information Office, State Organization "State Complex "Congress Palace" of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation, Maly Drama Theatre, the International Music Festival "Palaces of St. Petersburg", St. Petersburg Philharmonic after Shostakovich, Boris Yeltsin Library, Perfume Museum, the Museum of Butterflies "Tropical Paradise", the Museum of Soviet Arcade Games, KidBurg.
More than 40 people - representatives of travel agencies from all over Russia - came specially for the project, which set itself global and very important tasks:
- Promotion of St. Petersburg as a tourist center for Russian regional markets;
- Promotion of St. Petersburg as a winter destination;
- Organization of opportunities for regional agencies to establish business contacts with representatives of the tourism market of St. Petersburg;
- Demonstration of new businesses of organizing leisure and new directions in the development of traditional classical sites of the city;
Besides that another equally important task was accomplished. In the course of the business game with the topic: "Development elements of positioning of St. Petersburg as a tourist destination," it was required by using marketing techniques to parse a portrait of a Russian tourist in St. Petersburg in the low season, to identify the main destinations that have competitive resources and form a unique offer for the period of winter season. Active brainstorm and work in alliance with professionals has allowed the teams to generate effective original solutions of the problem, which will later be referred to the Committee on Tourism Development and SPBGEU (ENGECON). The general Manager of Golden Garden Boutique Hotel, Tamara Chernyh commented on the event: "We believe that the ability to cast a fresh glance, the ability to follow the development of tourism infrastructure gives us the resources in the future to have a broader overview of problem solving, to build a community that promotes and cares about the city. To show the city to tourists, its new and original faces - that is our challenge with which we have brilliantly coped!"
The "New Petersburg" project has been "in the area of special attention" of the tourism industry for several years already: a unique idea to enter the Russian regional market - that's just the initiative that is needed today in the inbound market of St. Petersburg.
